2019-2020 Co-Queen – Alysse Benavides

Alysse Gabriela Benavides

is the daughter of Roberto and Marisa Benavides
and has two young younger siblings, RJ and Leah Benavides.

Aly is currently a senior at J.B. Alexander High School, and is an active member
of her student body.

Aly, who ranks among the top 10% of her class, is an active member of the
National Honor Society, Superintendent Student Advisory Committee and a member of the National Thespian Society as well as the 2019 Alexander High School Homecoming Queen.

Her hobbies include dancing, drawing, reading, writing, and acting. Aly has had principal roles in a number of Laredo Little Theater Productions.

Aly is also a four-year letterman in basketball and track and field.
She has had the honor of being named the All-City Defensive Player of the Year twice and as a First Team All-District pick for 2019.

During her sophomore year, Aly started on the Bulldog basketball team that made history in the Texas 6A UIL Basketball Playoffs by becoming the first Laredo girls high school basketball team to compete in the Elite Eight.

In track, Aly is a multi-event athlete competing in five different categories.
She has qualified for the 6A Regional Track meet since her freshman year
And has competed in four different regional events in each of her respective years.
She was also part of the 2019 4 X 100 Meter relay team that set a City Record of 47.45 and advanced to the Texas 6A UIL State Finals in the process. Again, a first for Laredo girls.

Aly’s goal is to attend college, study business and is undecided whether to major in marketing, communications and, or, advertising with a focus on digital media.

Aly credits her parents for the constant support and encouragement to set and achieve her goals. Aly’s grandparents are also important part of her life and are her biggest fans, never missing a basketball game, track meet or a theater production.
